The children used to scramble through the dump site scrounging for items to sell, but now they run, barefoot and giggling, through their new neighbourhood in Cambodia.
They struggle to make enough money, or make sure there is enough food, but many of them are happy, because for the first time in their lives they have a home they can call their own.
Dozens of families were forced out of the dump site when the Government decided to relocate it.
Three hundred volunteers, including 160 from New Zealand, travelled to Cambodia last November to build the community new homes. They built 22 in just five days. Read the rest of the article at The Stuff.
