PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Information Minister Khieu Kanharith didn’t allow director general of National Television of Kampuchea (KTV) to resign from his post and asked him to fulfill his duty as usual.
Kim Kunwath wrote a resignation letter immediately after the KTV failed to broadcast live the Royal Ploughing ceremony presided over by King Norodom Sihamoni on May 17 in Kandal's Ta Kmao town due to technical issue.
"After receiving resignation letter from His Excellency, I convened a meeting to discuss the request," Kanharith said in a letter issued Wednesday.
"After the meeting, the officials didn't accept your [Kim Kunwath] resignation request, and they suggested that I keep the position for you," he added.
Note: Civil society suspects that Kim Kunawath was forced to resign after he allows the screening of the opposition CNRP's election campaign that show violence and forced evictions against the people.
