During the visit, he and the journalists, will visit various projects run by the U.S. Government, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Food Program (WFP), and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
These projects include USAID HARVEST projects focused on improving nutrition through home gardens and fish ponds; WFP school meals and food scholarship programs (funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture) as well as food distribution for WFP’s Maternal and Child Health Program; an FAO project to improve farming systems and markets for smallholder farmers, and a visit to their avian influenza laboratory; and projects promoted and funded by IFAD which provide innovative training
