VietNamNet Bridge - Dozens of casinos have been built along the
Vietnam-Cambodia border for the purpose of luring Vietnamese gamblers.
From
the Moc Bai border gate in Tay Ninh province, Vietnam, one can see

There
are more than 30 casinos, 14 cock-fighting playgrounds along the
border, mainly to attract gamblers from southwestern provinces of
Vietnam, such as Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai...
The
Crown Bavet Casino is located near the border in Tay Ninh. Every day
thousands of Vietnamese go to Cambodia to gamble. The number increases
by 700-900 during the weekend. Not only the border area in Tay Ninh
province, casinos also appear along the borders in Kien Giang, Long An,
Dong Thap provinces.
Several
gamblers had their fingers and ears cut by lenders at casinos to be
sent to their families in Vietnam to bring money to Cambodia for
redemption. In the days of arrest by usury gangs, many gamblers were
beaten. Some of them jumped down from high stories in an attempt to
escape and died.
In
a recent report of Kien Giang Province, the provincial authorities
identified over 500 Vietnamese who often go to casinos along the border.
Dozens of local people lost their houses and assets because of
gambling. Some people committed of robbery or suicide because of debts.
Titan
Casino is the largest casino near the border gate of Moc Bai. Not only
this casino but other casinos in this area offer accommodation services
for gamblers.
