PHNOM PENH, 21 September 2012 (Cambodia Herald) - About 100 countries have promised to back
Cambodia as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security
Council, a senior official said Friday.
Kuy Koung, spokesman at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, told reporters that the outcome was expected on October 18.
"There will be a vote in New York next month and we can know the result the same day in Cambodia," he said.
South Korea and Bhutan are other Asian countries applying for the position.
