Cambodians to protest during the visit of Chinese president

Chinese embassy protest planned during Hu visit

Published: 29-Mar-2012

PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - People blaming Chinese investors for losing their land say they plan to protest outside the Chinese embassy during the visit of President Hu Jintao (pictured), who arrives Friday for a four-day visit.

“We never planned to propose a motion to the Chinese embassy. However, this year we will march in a procession to seek a resolution," said Boeung Kok resident Tep Vony.

"Since Cambodia is chairing the ASEAN summit, Boeung Kok residents might stage a non-violent protest to seek help in receiving titles for 12 hectares of land granted by Prime Minister Hun Sen," the resident said.

Thida Khus, director of Silaka, a non-governmental organization, said people in Sre Ambel district tried to send a message to Hu through the Chinese embassy.

“We want to directly put forward all related information and let the Chinese president know our needs," Thida Khus said. "The idea is cool because our voice needs to be heard."

Do not blame the Chinese investors.
Blame the Cambodian government whose leaders are
incompetent and CORRUPT.
You must understand the problems first,
then seek the solutions.

China has a lot of money but it also has a lot more mouth to feed. 75% of Chinese still living in poverty by western standard. Social, environmental, and political clouds are hanging heavy on China. They also need a much better P.R campaign as its reputation is severely tarnished around the world
