PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - Cambodia received 2.88 million visitors in 2011, up 15 percent from a year earlier, a senior official said, forecasting a further increase this year.

"We expect that the tourism sector will also increase 5.7 percent this year," the official told The Cambodia Herald Wednesday.

As part of its effort to become a more attractive destination, Cambodia plans to launch its first clean city contest on 27 February.

Vietnamese are the largest group of foreign visitors, with almost half a million arriving in 2011, followed by Koreans, Chinese and Japanese.

Tourists poured a lot of money here. Where did the money go? How come so many poor Khmer people and street beggars there?

Where is the Sok Kong? Here is the one who control this tourism industry in Cambodia?

Some bloggers and reporters said, Sok Kong is a Yuon or Vietnamese guy.

Cambodian should be ashamed of themselves. Ankor Wat money should be going to national budget.

Yesh, right. He is an illegal Vietnamese thief, sneaking around in Cambodia and smuggling into Cambodia to be the get-rich-quick opportunist and put in his pocket to feed his family in Communist Vietnam after the end of Killing Field. He would never have the opportunity in Communist Vietnam. He needs to think what he should do to return back the money took from Tourism Industry. There were the phone tabs, he spoke the Vietnamese languages with his family and business crooks in Vietnam, according to the unknownreporters.

Sok Kong is a Vietnamese. No need for reporters to be scared.

Better let the private firm take care and not let the Cambodian authority destroy the "Site of Angkor."
