NEW YORK, Sept. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Prime Minister Hun Sen will make an official visit to the United Nations in attendance of the 70th Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 70) on September 25th to 26th, 2015. This is his administration's twenty-second visit since the signing of The Paris Peace Agreement; for he has brutally held on to power for over 30 years through corruption, intimidation and violence. Citizens of the free world have determined that enough is enough. Cambodia and her people deserve a real democratically elected leader to bring transparency, fresh ideas and new faces for stability and prosperity to all. To ensure our voices are heard loud and clear, free Cambodian Americans and the victims of Hun Sen's regime will be rallying for real democracy and real rights:

Place: The United Nations Headquarters
New York City (1st Avenue & East 47th street)
760 United Nations Plaza, New York, NY 10017
Purpose: To demand justice for Cambodians victims: "Hun Sen Must Go"
During his 35 years in power, Prime Minister Hun Sen has ruled Cambodia with an iron fist and committed numerous human rights violations comparable to Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gadaffi and Slobodan Milosevic. Under his authoritarian rule, widespread corruption has led to a failed judicial system, rigged elections, and large-scale illegal deforestation and mineral expropriation.
The number of innocent and poor villagers adversely affected by land-grabbing since 2000 is estimated at 830,000 people. This staggering figure is continually increasing by about 1000 people per week or 50,000 per year. At this rate, within three years, the number of people affected by illegal land seizures will reach 1 million. It is no surprise, that we've seen increasing social unrest throughout the country as ordinary people try to protect their homes.
A legal brief submitted on October 7th, 2014 to the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court by international lawyer Richard Rogers, outlines the worst human rights abuses committed by the Prime Minister and Cambodia's Ruling Elites. The legal brief points out that most of the violations are interconnected - whether the forcible evictions of poor families, the assassination of trade union leaders, or the persecution of opposition figures; these are all part of a much broader policy, which is implemented by Cambodian State actors for the benefit of the Ruling Elites.
Before the 2013 national election, Prime Minister Hun Sen warned of war if he lost the election. This type of threat and fear mongering has sadly become the norm in Cambodia. Their real objectives and true intentions are for self-enrichment of the Ruling Elites; primarily through land-grabbing and preservation of power at all costs. These terror tactics are mainly executed through violent suppression of dissidents.
It is time for world leaders to take meaningful action against kleptocratic dictators, such as the regime in Cambodia. We, citizens of the free world and victims of Hun Sen's regime strongly and unequivocally urge the United Nations:
- To assist the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court with initiating an investigation into the alleged crimes committed byCambodia's Ruling Elite.
- To rightfully and obligatorily take action under Article 5 of the Paris Peace Agreement (1991), which states that "In the event of serious violations of human rights in Cambodia, [the Parties] will call upon the competent organs of the United Nations to take such other steps as are appropriate for the prevention and suppression of such violations in accordance with the relevant international instruments."
- To monitor the 2018 national election to ensure it is free and fair.
- To ensure the peaceful transfer of authority should the opposition party obtain majority of the votes in 2018.
