PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- An environmental activist Alex Gonzalez-Davidson has been arrested today afternoon at Night Market near riverbank, according to a source closed to him.
The arrest came after the Khmer-speaking Spaniard, co-founder of Mother Nature, who led campaign against controversial Cheay Areng dam in Koh Kong province vowed to stay in Cambodia, while the government warned to arrest and deport him.
The Ministry of Interior has denied to extend visa for Alex as his visa expired on 20 Feb. 2015.
Khieu Sopheak, spokesman for Ministry of Interior, said that Alex continued to stay in Cambodia while his visa expired.
Department of Immigration has already informed him, but he continued to stay and the Ministry of Interior also used diplomatic measure by asking Spanish embassy to tell him, Sopheak said.
Immigration police are preparing documents in order to deport him from Cambodia, the official asking not to be named said.

Khmer Pouch Neak chambaing Euy !!
When are you going to wake up and make a huge demonstration against Ah devil Yuon slave Hun Sen for arresting Alex Gonzalez, who has been risking his life to protect our natural resource ??
Stop lamenting and crying when Cambodia becomes a part of the evil Vietnam in the near future because we have a major role in protecting our motherland.
Alex Gonzales is a true Khmer hero and a role model for Khmer people. Please adopt his bravery and determination to fight for justice.
