PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Prime Minister Hun Sen has called for creation of law to prevent rent increase by landlords.
Speaking at graduation ceremony for Royal University of Law and Economics (RULE), he said he and opposition leader agreed to create a law to prevent landlords from raising rent to avoid being complained by citizens.
"Yesterday, H.E Sam Rainsy and I discussed with each other through messages," he said.
"We have to have law to protect both sides [landlord and tenant], and we agreed on this issue, so I told Sam Rainsy and Sar Kheng to make contact with each other to draft this law," he told the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Hun Sen called for price reduction in other services such as bus and taxi fares.
Ministry of Public Works and Transport has recently asked transport companies to lower the fares as oil price in Cambodia has sharply dropped from 5,200 Riel to current 4,000 Riel per liter.
