PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong met Wednesday with Rady Mom, a Cambodian-American who just won state representative seat in Massachusetts, U.S.A.
Rady Mom made history early this month, becoming the first Cambodian legislator after he was elected as a state representative of Lowell city where is home to the United States' second largest Cambodian American population.
"As a member of the Royal Government and on behalf of the Cambodian people in the country, I am very proud that a Cambodian was elected as legislator of Massachusetts, U.S.A, and it is also a pride of Cambodian people both in the country and abroad," Hor Namhong told reporters after the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
"In the future, Rady Mom will become Member of Parliament in Washington," he said.
"I am very happy when arriving in Cambodia, and find that there are development in many sectors in Cambodia," said Rady Mom, appealing to Cambodian young people in the country and abroad to study hard to make contribution to the country's development.
