PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- The United Nations General Assembly has authorized a subvention of $15.5 million to the international component of the Khmer Rouge tribunal.
In a statement Friday, the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia said the money supplemented donations to the international part of the court from January 1 to December 31.
"It enables the United Nations to enter into contracts with international staff members at the ECCC for a duration up to one year.
"The subvention can only be drawn upon if there are insufficient funds available through voluntary donations," the statement added.
