Cheam Yeap: CNRP to start negotiation with CPP

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) --- The Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) will start the negotiation at top level with the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), said a CPP official today.

Cheam Yeap, however, expressed disappointment as the meetings held two or three time already between top leaders of the two parties have produced nothing.

Prime Minister Hun Sen had talked on phone with Sam Rainsy on April 9 before Khmer New Year, and the talk was about to reach an agreement, but the agreement could not be reached after Kem Sokha rejected, Yeap said.

“I think that if the meeting will not produce positive result, the meeting is not necessary because the CPP won election, and now it is leading the country,” he said.

Yeap added that Sam Rainsy and Kem Sokha have to agree with each other before talking about negotiation with the Cambodian People’s Party.
