PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) leader Sam Rainsy has called for talks with the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) in early January, 2014.

Speaking at a news conference on Saturday, he said "the Cambodia National Rescue Party called for talks with the CPP and civil society organizations to solve the national issues."

The talks that will include issues regarding human rights and the protests by factory workers, will be open for everyone to listen, he said.

Kem Sokha, acting president of the CNRP, said that even though we are returning to talks, we're not giving up our demand for a re-election.

The CNRP has been holding daily rallies at Freedom Park and marches along the streets of the capital city of Phnom Penh since December 15 demanding a re-election and the resignation of Prime Minister Hun Sen.
