FremantleMedia International has sold formats into Cambodia and Myanmar for the first time, with Cambodian Idol and Cambodia’s Got Talent set to air in the region.
Multiple seasons of the talent formats will go into production in 2014 with Hang Meas Group for Cambodia’s Hang Meas HDTV, while Forever BEC-Tero has licensed the Got Talent format for Myanmar’s Channel 7 and MRTV-4, along with game show Family Feud.
Two seasons of Family Feud have also been licensed by the Philippine channel ABS-CBN.
Singapore’s Starhub has also commissioned its first international game show – two seasons of the studio format The Noise. Produced locally by Very!, The Noise sees teams of friends taking on a number of challenges without making a sound.
Two seasons of The Noise have also been commissioned by TV5 in the Philippines.
“The growing importance of Asia to businesses like FremantleMedia is evident in these significant MIPCOM deals,” said Haryaty Rahman, the company’s VP of international distribution and home entertainment Asia, who brokered the deals. “They also reflect the global appetite for our hallmark entertainment formats, which continue to appeal to – and resonate with – local audiences. I’m sure they will delight viewers in Asia as much as they have in other regions throughout the world.”
