Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Bu Jianguo on Thursday donated $50,000 to Cambodian Red Cross President Bun Rany, the wife of Prime Minister Hun Sen, to assist flood victims.
The ambassador said the donation came from the government and people of China is aimed to help relieve the difficulties of Cambodian flood-affected families.
Flash floods have hit Cambodia since mid-last month, leaving at least 139 people dead and affecting nearly 2 million people, Keo Vy, spokesman for the National Committee for Disaster Management , told Xinhua.
Some 300,000 hectares of rice paddy have been submerged, he said, adding that some 241 kilometers of national roads and over 3, 100 kilometers of gravel roads have been damaged.
"So far, water has receded in most flooded areas," he said. "If there are no further heavy rains, the situation will return to normal within two weeks."
Bun Rany, on behalf of the flood victims, expressed sincere and heartfelt thanks to China for the donation, saying the aid was timely and would be used to buy emergency items for flood-hit families.

Just keep that money 'Chum Teav Ti-Toer' so that you can throw down parties to your crooked officials or buy toys for your grand children because all flood victims has been already helped by CNRP. Let them feed the sicks and the poors and you know for sure these people didn't vote for you in the last election, and they also not going to vote for you in the following election either, so don't bother to walk in mud and water. Just enjoy your life with the rich and the powerful ones. Leave them to CNRP because their supporters in the US can print out money as fast as they want. To compete with them your husband has to sign more contract deals with yuon and China.
