Cambodia : Extinction of wild animals -

NB: Lack of funding, or lack of transparency and political will that is putting wild life on the knife edge of extinction?

Meanwhile rare and critically endangered fresh water Mekong dolphins are also losing the fight for survival in Kratie, Cambodia. During the war in the seventies the Khmer Rouge and Vietcongs killed this migrating species in their hundreds by means of bullets and hand grenades, using the fat of the animals to grease their guns and artillery. Today numbering only a few hundreds in total, and despite being objects of tourist attraction, the dolphins face multiple threats; from pollution and habitat erosion to lack of conservation and protection from local and central authorities - School of Vice
