Thailand should talk to ICJ if it wants to adjust border zone

Published: 14-Mar-12

PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) - Cambodia urged Thailand Wednesday to talk with the International Court of Justice (ICJ) if it wants to adjust a demilitarized border zone.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation was responding to remarks by Thai Supreme Commander Thanasak Patimapakorn, who reportedly said he didn’t know where the demilitarized zone was.

Ministry spokesman Koy Koung said Cambodian and Thai teams had already examined the zone and that Indonesian observers were also there.

Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra was quoted as saying in the Bangkok Post that joint management and development over the 4.6 square kilometer zone should be considered.

Koy Koung, however, said that “there is no joint management.”

Thanasak was quoted as saying Tuesday that Thailand was planning to propose that the ICJ determine that the demilitarized zone near the Preah Vihear Temple be adjusted.

Thai Suprem Commender didn't know where the demilitarized zone was ?????

I thought they have all the high Tech. equipment, use it !!!!!

If you don't know how to use it, maybe Cambodian can train their soldier on how to use the equipment.

What is the point of having high education if you don't know how to apply to the real world !!!!!

He knows, but he is a smart ass and pretend not to know so Thailand can encroach on Cambodian territory further. This is a Thai trick to get a better deal, knowing it will lose the court case against Cambodia.
