A Winnipeg man who created a charity to help children who live in a dump in Cambodia has been honoured as National Volunteer of the Year by a local Canadian company.
Gerry Valois, a chartered accountant at PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada’s Winnipeg office, was presented with $10,000 for his charity, Canodia. Canodia helps that country’s Centre for Children’s Happiness get more space to house the children who live in a garbage dump in Phnom Penh.
The award is handed out annually by the PricewaterhouseCoopers Canada Foundation to an employee at the tax and advisory services company.
