Manekseka Sangkum: This young woman will be well advised to learn the difference between personal fame and grievances on the one hand, and public causes and relevance that gave rise to her celebrity in the first instance, on the other. No cases, defamation included, involving political personalities, will have any chance of being settled justly in this strictly controlled court system. Unless, of course, her ultimate motive is to serve the authoritarian regime and its status quo - the opposition to which her name and fame rest.

The lawyer representing social media celebrity Thy Sovantha in the defamation case linked to an alleged affair scandal with deputy opposition leader Kem Sokha was questioned by anti-terror police yesterday.
Saing Vanna declined to go into details about the interrogation yesterday, only to say that some points were “clarified” and that his client, Sovantha, was not available to attended the meeting due heath reasons.
She would meet with investigators in the future, he added, when she was well again. “We will still keep our complaint,” Vanna said. Sokha has been hounded by allegations of infidelity since recordings were released a few weeks ago on social media purporting to be of the acting CNRP leader engaged in flirtatious conversations with a mistress.
Sovantha launched a defamation suit in response to disparaging comments made about her during the conversations, which led to a formal investigation.
