The Ministries of Justice of Cambodia and Vietnam reached here yesterday their cooperation agreement in 2016.
The agreement was signed following a meeting between Cambodian Minister of Justice H.E. Ang Vong Vathana, and his visiting Vietnamese counterpart H.E. Ha Hung Cuong.
H.E. Chin Malin, Spokesperson for the Cambodian Ministry of Justice, told reporters that both sides raised a cooperation project on transfer of sentenced prisoners and aimed to sign an agreement on mutual assistance in the criminal sector.
Besides, both sides agreed on the legal and judicial reform and cooperation strengthening between the two ministries, added the spokesperson.
He went on to say that the 2016 cooperation deal focuses on joint organization of seminars, meetings and study visits to exchange experience.
The two sides also pledged to tighten their cooperation on prevention and crackdown on offenses and crimes, especially drug-related crimes, along the common border areas, and agreed to enforce the implementation of the already-signed documents such as the 1999 MoU on general cooperation, the 2013 agreement on extradition, and the 2013 agreement on judicial assistance in civil matters, said the spokesperson.
