Cambodian PM defends doctors against "unethical and money-minded" criticism

Xinhua News Agency | Mon,2016-02-29 Cambodian PM defends doctors against "unethical and money-minded" criticism

PHNOM PENH, Feb. 29 (Xinhua) -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday defended the country's some 20,000 doctors and health officials against "unethical and money-minded" criticism.
Speaking in a public speech at the inauguration ceremony of buildings at the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Referral Hospital in southwestern Preah Sihanouk province, the premier said he did not agree with a claim that 90 out of 100 doctors were "bad."

"We acknowledged that there are some negative points... but only a few of doctors behave inappropriately, use bad words with patients, and are money-minded," he said with a call on the bad-behaved doctors to change their behaviors.

His remarks came after prominent businessman and doctor Quach Mengly last month slammed the health sector, claiming that nine out of 10 doctors he had met were "bad."

"They are unethical, not gentle, merciless...nine out of 10 (doctors) I have met are bad," Mengly was quoted as saying by the Phnom Penh Post.

Ah kwak tries to divert attention from his medical check up in Singapore and makes case how good the medical services at home are. It is too late to tell people that now.
