Deported Mother Nature co-founder Alejandro Gonzalez-Davidson, in a video posted on the group’s Facebook page yesterday, made a direct appeal to Prime Minister Hun Sen to expedite his visa application so he can face charges over anti-sand-dredging activities before the Koh Kong Provincial Court.
Claiming that being sentenced in absentia would be “a gross violation” of his rights – citing articles of the Cambodian constitution, Code of Criminal Procedures and the International Covenant on Civil and Political rights – Gonzalez-Davidson says he is “not escaping from justice”.
“Not being allowed to defend myself in court against these totally trumped charges only to be found guilty would be beyond-Kafkaesque,” he wrote in an email to the Post yesterday.
