The
Ministry of Interior has removed four Oddar Meanchey provincial
officials from office, including former deputy governor of Anlong Veng
district Nhem En, for failing to show up for work, according to a
ministry letter received by Khmer Times yesterday.
According
to the letter issued on December 12 last year by the Ministry of
Interior and signed by deputy prime minister Sar Kheng, Mr. En, Chhit
Chhuk, Sin Mano and Oeun Ratana have been removed from their positions.
“The reason the Ministry has decided to remove them is because they abandoned their jobs,” the letter read.
The
letter also said that a number of government officials, including the
general secretary of human resources at the Ministry of Interior, had to
follow the announcement as of the day of its signature.
“All other regulations having content opposite to this Prakas are considered null,” the letter added.
Sar Thavy, Governor of Oddar Meanchey province, could not be reach for comment yesterday, nor could Mr. En.
Mr.
En, a former photographer at the Khmer Rouge’s infamous Tuol Sleng
detention center, became deputy governor in Anlong Veng district in
2005, joining the district’s council in 2009; in 2011, he became deputy
governor of the district before becoming an official working in the
Oddar Meanchey provincial cabinet in 2014.
Despite
switching party affiliations multiple times throughout his career, Mr.
En was a registered member of the CPP at the time of his dismissal by
the Ministry of Interior in December.
