PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Gasoline prices have been decreased by 300 Riel per liter, according to an announcement issued Thursday by Ministry of Commerce.
The reduction in petrol prices covers only five gas companies such as Sokimex, Tela, PTT and BVM, and Savimex, said the announcement.
The oil prices of four companies are decreased from current 5,050 Riel to 4,750 Riel per liter for gasoline, while from 4,750 Riel to 4,500 Riel per liter for fuel oil.
Savimex company's oil prices are reduced from 5,050 Riel to 4,550 Riel per liter for gasoline, and from 4,750 Riel to 4,350 Riel per liter for fuel oil.
The price reduction coincided with the request of opposition lawmakers who have asked Prime Minister Hun Sen to consider the possibility of lowering the oil prices in the country as the crude oil price at international market has dropped gradually.
Gasoline in Thailand, Vietnam and Laos costs $1.29, $1.04 and $1.29 respectively, according to another petrol website (www.globalpetrolprices.com) on Monday.
