The Cambodian Space Project singer Srey knows a thing or two about hard times, to put it mildly. Born as Cambodia attempted to recover from the cruel reign of the Khmer Rouge, she lived in a tank and was kidnapped as a teenager – narrowly avoiding being sold into a sex trafficking ring.
A human rights activist, Srey fuses this with her music. Each track from The Cambodian Space Project is a salute to empowerment, to the right of individuals to determine their own life.
