PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- The U.S. Embassy will host a ceremony Tuesday morning next week to congratulate the latest Cambodian recipients of the highly competitive J. William Fulbright Foreign Student Fellowship for pursuit of Master’s degrees at leading U.S. universities. The recipients of the 2014-15 Fulbright Fellowship are:
1 -- Mr. Hin Lyhour, Master of Science in Agricultural Economics, Auburn University
2 -- Mr. Lang Mesa, Master of Science in Media Management, The New School
3 -- Mr. Leng Bun Meng, Master of Arts in Economics, Vanderbilt University
4 -- Mr. Lim Chanmann, Master of Science in Computer Science, University of Missouri-Columbia
5 -- Mr. Sean Viseth, Master of Science in Data Science, Worcester Polytechnic Institute
6 -- Miss Sok Pichleap, Master of Science in Software Engineering, Loyola University Chicago
7 -- Ms. Sok Vanseka, Master of Law, Georgetown University
Named after U.S. Senator James William Fulbright, the U.S. Congress established the Fulbright Program in 1946 as a means “to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.” Since 1957, 195 Cambodian students, including the latest awardees, have pursued Master’s and Ph.D. programs in the United States, courtesy of the Fulbright Program.Several Cambodian Fulbright alumni are currently working in key positions in government, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations.
