PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Cambodia announces today a new Intellectual Property Rights laws drafted to protect the country's artists and musicians and their works from counterfeiting in accordance with interntional IPR standards.
An event held at Ministry of Commerce was attended by newly-appointed Sun Chanthol, Minister of Commerce, who has explained his ministry's activities in the IPR sectors and its support for Cambodia's arts and culture, and Phoeurng Sackona, Minister of Culture and Fine Arts.
In a handover ceremony, Mr. Sin Chanchaya brought his family’s collection of his father’s very rare, original "45's" recordings on vinyl, to register his songs as a personal family property at the Ministry of Commerce.
Sun Chanthol and Oscar nominated director Rithy Panh also announced the creation of a nationally televised concert& fundraiser named "It's time to give back - A tribute to Sin Sisamuth".
The star-studded line-up will feature many of Cambodia’s leading artists and musicians, who will perform in honor of, and in tribute to, Sin Sisamuth, Cambodia's National Treasure. This nationally televised event will be a fundraiser for the family of the singer, who never benefited financially from any of the recordings and commercial exposures of their husband and father. The singer’s family is today living in humble circumstances in Stung Treng province. This gala event will take place in early 2015 to coincide with Women's Day tentatively.

Thank you for doing this to preserved the original and this valuable art of our greatest artist.
Now sue Ah Chlongdan Production and many others that productions that used and abused his songs for their profits.
Get those profits and give back to Mr. Sin Sisamouth's family. They deserve every penny.
