PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- Kem Sokha, Vice President of the Cambodian National Rescue Party, hinted about talks with Cambodia People’s Party to find peaceful solution. However, he did not elaborate how to move ahead and what options should be made for the breakthrough.
In the name of the CNRP and on his own behalf, he earnestly requested for peaceful settlement between Khmers and Khmers, said Kem Sokha while speaking to his supporters and the Party’s members on 19 January 2014.
In the meantime, the Cambodian Peoples’ Party also showed its similar intention for the negotiation. Prime Minister Hun Sen and his associates have always called on the CNRP to join the National Assembly and come for talks on reforms.
However, both sides have not softened their positions. The CNRP insists on re-elections as CPP says any new election is impossible and urged the CNRP elected MPs to end the parliamentary boycott.
In general, the two Parties have similar wishes for negotiation, but fail to reach a deal on how to resume the talks, making it impossible to find a solution to end the political deadlock in the near future.
