Sam Rainsy claims 400, 000 Facebook supporters

The Cambodia Herald, 24-Jan-14 04:06PM

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) – Facebook page of opposition leader received 400,000 “like” ten months after it was created in April last year.

“Today, my Facebook page reached 400,000 ‘Likes’ and it marked a milestone in the role of modern technology in Cambodia politics,” Sam Rainsy posted Thursday, seeing the Facebook generation as his political force.

He said his page has become platform for all users to express their rights, and appealed to fans to continue to support and engage with the CNRP by taking part in all upcoming activities both on and offline without fear.

“Each like, comment and share contributed to turn my page into a national platform of free expression,” he said, adding that Facebook has made great contribution to and paved a way for the advancement of democracy in Cambodia.

“My Facebook Page reflects the fact that the CNRP continues the democratic fight more than ever, and that with the support and participation of all justice-loving Cambodians, we will win and change the future of the Nation.”

“Facebook allowed people to get involved in the July 28, 2013 elections and the subsequent events: It let them speak, react, share the words, and not just to their peers online but also to their friends and family everywhere in Cambodia and abroad.”

Rainsy also criticized Prime Minister Hun Sen, stating that he could not control the people anymore by threatening them.

“The ever-growing national mobilization on Facebook Pages managed by progressive Khmer politicians, including Kem Sokha, and by young Khmer intellectuals and human rights activists, is the proof that Hun Sen can no longer subjugate people by fear,” he said.

I watch a few youtube clips about civilian life in Phnom Penh.

Mr. Hun Sen has rescued Phnom Penh from a ghost city into a bustling city. According to a World Bank report, the poverty rate in Cambodia is being reduced rapidly. According to an International Monetary Fund report, Cambodia economy has been growing fast and well for the last 10 years.

I think Rainsy wanted to disrupt Mr. Hun Sen's effort to improve the country by demanding the job-loss $160 minimum wage as well as inciting strikes to intimidate future business entering Cambodia.

That's very wrong.

Oh man, you know how easy it is to get fake Facebook accounts? I once told a girl, "You should make a Facebook account with your mother's name, then send message to your boyfriend to boss him around for fun."

Ahahaha, she cracked up so hard.

I bet you the scheme of working from home, click this on the internet involves a lot of fake internet accounts to trump things up.

I cannot believe the human society are this stupid.

P.S. I like the good old fashion of showing up to places and actually meet people. Sit down around a table for some talk.
