PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) - Prime Minister Hun Sen said Thursday that China had pledged between $300 million and $500 million in loans to Cambodia every year.

Speaking at a road opening ceremony in Prey Veng province, he said he signed agreements on grant and loan aid with Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao during his visit to Cambodia ahead of the ASEAN summit earlier this week.

"We talked a lot about our partnership strategy which will continue. Our task continues to be seeking loans from China of between $300 million and $500 million.

"During our talks, the Chinese premier asked us to prepare priorities for 2013 and we have to include plans for at least 400 kilometers of roads every year.”

Among the roads inaugurated Thursday, National Road No 8, a 109-kilometer route from Prek Tamak in Kandal province to Anglong Chrey in Prey Veng, cost $107 million which included a loan of $83 million from China.
