Public Forum on Human Rights and Development
Hundreds of residents
from Dang Tong, and districts around Kampot Province, will attend a public forum organized by the Cambodian Center for Human
Rights (CCHR). Many face problems including land grabbing by powerful people
and private companies, human rights violations, corruption, and illegal charges
for birth certificates, several other issues will also be raised for discussion
at the public forum.
The
Cambodian Center for Human Rights organized the forum for residents living in Kampot
province, especially for those who have been affected by land grabbing, and for residents from
other provinces, whose rights have been violated, to express their opinions and
raise their concerns. Attendees of the forum will be able to put forward
requests and questions to their parliamentarians, local authorities, and other
stakeholders in order for a peaceful resolution to be reached.
Parliamentarians from all political parties, local authorities and
other stakeholders will be guest speakers at the forum.
The forum will be held on Thursday, 22 November 2012, from 8.00 am to
11.30 am in Chrak Kes village, Dang Tong
commune, Dang Tong district, Kampot province.
