Thailand is planning to propose that the International Court of Justice-determined "demilitarised zone" near the controversial Preah Vihear Temple be adjusted, Supreme Commander Thanasak Patimapakorn said yesterday.
Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra yesterday approved the setting up of a working group to comply with the court order, he said, noting that the panel would discuss the idea with its Cambodian counterpart.
"The world court has marked the demilitarised zone, but now that both countries have good relations, we think we can discuss the matter first," he said.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) marked the 17.3 square kilometres adjacent to the Hindu temple as a demilitarised zone to prevent further clashes between the two nations while it works on interpreting the 1962 ruling on the temple as requested by Cambodia.
Phnom Penh is seeking a clarification on who owns the area upon which the temple complex is situated.
In 1962, the court ruled that the temple was situated in a territory that came under the sovereignty of Cambodia, but Bangkok argues that Thailand owns the land in the temple's vicinity.
"We don't know who has set up the zone or who determines where the ABCD points are located. So if we can talk with Cambodia, we can live together peacefully. The world court also wants us to live together peacefully," Thanasak explained.
When asked if a team of observers from Indonesia was still necessary to monitor the situation, the commander said that in a recent meeting his Indonesian counterpart had said he wanted the two countries to reach an agreement on the matter first.
"If the two countries think observers are needed, Indonesia will send them in," he said, noting that the working group would discuss the matter with Cambodia.
"If the working groups can reach an agreement, it will be taken to the General Border Committee and the Thai Cabinet to be processed under the Constitution's Article 190," he said. "Everything will follow the procedure step by step. Nobody can make any decisions alone."

What kind of an agreement on the matter first? It meant sharing a piece of cake, right? If we want to live together peacefully, this is an old game Thailand is playing the F@@king smart chess again.
Anyone can play chess, even put a monkey to play chess with Hun Sen and the monkey will still win. Hun Sen doesnt know anything other then using his mouth.
And his one eye to stare and intimidate khmer people.
Thailand is playing a cat and mouse game again, trying to buy more time or to deceive Cambodia. Thailand knows that it is likely to lose the court case, so it asks for re-adjustment of the demilitarized zone, make it smaller I think, so when it lost the case it still can keep the land outside of the demilitarized zone. Cambodia should never agree to re-adjust the demilitarized zone, just keep the same as the court order.
To above please STOP call name on our country Priminister Hun Sen. I am not a supporter of CPP but now is not the time to discredit our leaders.Gentlemen we are at war with this tricky, clever diplomatic maneuver, rich, thieves, rudeless, animals enemies. We must fight the Vietcong encroaching on our lands too, not just Thai. But I doubt ah Hun Sen will fight against the Vietnamese taking our land because he is youn puppet

I am not in any party, but should I support the UNEDUCATED Vietminh to stay in power for another 32 years and fight for my country?
Should we as a Khmer also support the Vietminh to fight of the Siem thieves stopping them from stealing our heritage?
What about our Angkor Wat? Angkor Wat is for the Khmer people, yet why is the money going straight to the Vietnamese Tycoon/Senator Sok Kong instead of the Khmer people?
After risking my life dying for my country, will the Vietmihn leader also fight off the Vietnamese and Chinese thieves who are legally allowed to steal our land for 99 years, and exploiting our resources and our Khmer women and children for cheap labor?
What should i do? I am confuse, should i fight side by side for the country? Does Cambodia belong to CPP or does it belong to the Khmer people, how come over 80% of the Khmer land now belongs to CPP and Tycoons, when most Khmer are scavenging for food?

I whole heartily agree with you. I am actually was FUNCINPEC until the playboy Prince Norodumb Ranarith abandoned us for a young beautiful apsara dancer. I am now not supporting any party. I supported Cambodia territories integrity.
You right we also have to deal with the Viet Cong and Khmer Viet Minh in Phnom Penh. How are we going to fight on two fronts at the same time, when we can't even fight with Siam thieves. Viets controlled every espect of our government branches. I think Hun Sen had learned a lot since he was installed by Viets occupation forces. For our country hope PM must find a way to break free from Hanoi.
Right now let's win at ICJ first. My Khmer brother let deal with one Siam diseases at a time.
We must developed our country first. Then we can change CPP a little at a time. These old guys in CPP do not live forever. I think the younger generation CPP were more educate and more liberals. We can try to change our attitude toward each others, so we Khmers can united toward common purpose. These are to help our peoples, defend our borders, natural resources. There are many CPP members who are patriotic and compassionate. We Khmer must forgive each others.

That why Khmer named our province Siem Reap where Khmer crushed Siem thieves like bugs under Khmer feet because they keep repeating their thief agression. They are ashamed of their own Tai mother tongue because the Mongol wiped the entire their land so they changed Tai to Thai.
As long as CPP Tycoon continues to exploit Cambodia and the nation, I will never support or work with them.

Simple, Since Cambodia belongs to CPP(Vietminh) and not the Khmer people. Let see if Hun Sen can bite as much as he barks, after all, Hun Sen often barks at poor Khmer accusing them as traitors and betrayers for leaving the country and running away, or accusing the poor innocent Khmer as dogs and cowards.
As far as I think, CPP are the one killing the nations, NOT the Siems or YOUN. Siems and Youn are allowed to get away with many crimes because the UNEDUCATED Vietminh leader killing his own people. Youn couldnt be any happier if more Khmer dies, (remember K5 plan?) and Siem couldnt any happier to bus us more Khmer beggars.
So, do i want Cambodia to be developed? Yes, but under a new government and new direction. NOT under a Vietminh, who couldnt even high school. The more CPP dies, the sooner we can develop our country.

Understand well about some bad reaction again Mr. Hun Sen. He unluckily the PM of our country.
It is your decision, but to say we don't want to work with Mr. Hun Sen to develop our country, because we just don't like his face. We are there to do our job and not to relax and to look the face of Mr. Hun Sen or other stupid people.
This behavior is more or less like a stupid child, who was always spoiled or pampered by their family and was always reacted "I don't like this or that" and turn around with angry face.
Cambodia is our country and not the country of Mr. Hun Sen. We might also have the same right to help to develop our homeland.
Most of us are not very bad educated and should find the way to do our job.
Prove to me that Cambodia belongs to the Khmer people and not the CPP or Hun Sen. As I have mentioned before, over 80% of Cambodia now belongs to CPP Tycoons. Even Angkor Wat our pride and soul now belongs to Hun Sen business partner, another Vietnamese Tycoon/CPP Sok change if Hun Sen is sending out Khmer to dies as dogs. Hun Sen himself has said it many times that Khmer are cowards and those against him are dogs (remember).
Hun Sen himself is the problems, if he cares about the country and the people then he must resign his position, then we may be able to save Khmer.
But do you think he will do that KR cares about what you and I think? Did you read any article today, he has just signed another border treaty with the Vietnamese, legalizing more border encroachment in the province.
I would rather be a stupid child then to accept this stupid monkey as a leader killing his own nation.
