The Phnom Penh Post
Phnom Penh city officials have claimed a Malaysian company will invest up to US$100 million in a refuse processing plant at the capital’s Dangkor dumpsite, although multiple government offices were unaware of the project.
Noun Someth, Phnom Penh’s deputy governor, made the claim during a seminar last week, but declined to name the company or give further detail. He said construction on the plant would start within two to three months.
Two officials at Phnom Penh City Hall’s investment office, who asked not to be named, said they had not seen documents confirming the investment. Nuth Puth Dara, governor of Dangkor district where a dump site is located, declined to comment.
