SOUTH BRISBANE: A team of 17 Brisbane State High School students and three staff will undertake a three week humanitarian aid project to Cambodia next month.
Paul Hodges, Head of Department Curriculum at the school, would be joined by colleagues Tara Richmond and Nathan Macpherson in guiding the students through the aid work.
He said the project aimed to educate students about the ``developing world and hopefully fosters a lifelong commitment to social justice and serving others’‘.
Aims included working alongside Cambodian Non-Government Organisation to provide practical assistance and financial support to a group of orphaned Cambodian children and families living with HIV/AIDS.
``The students will be involved in a construction project, teaching, and actively contributing to making improvements to the living and educational standards of Cambodians living in great need,’’ Mr Hodges said.
The second aim was to ``educate and inspire our students to become future leaders who have a greater sense of social justice’‘.
The students will travel from June 22 to July 11.
