Revoking the honorary degree awarded Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen by Ramkhamhaeng University would be a very serious matter, Ramkhamhaeng rector Kim Chaisansook said on Monday.
Mr Hun Sen was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Political Science in the field of Foreign Relations by Ramkhamhaeng University in 2001.
"This is a big issue, especially when a country's leader is involved," Assoc Prof Kim said. "The university cannot decide this matter alone, but must consult the Foreign Ministry and the government."
He did not believe the Thai-Cambodian dispute was that serious yet. He likened it to two people frowning at each other.
"We have to think of the long-term consequences. Although some leaders may be disliked by others, Thailand and Cambodia still have mutual interests and not everything is negative," the rector said.
"But if the Thai government breaks off its ties with Cambodia completely and the two countries later become enemies, Ramkhamhaeng would have to revoke Mr Hun Sen's degree immediately.
''If we didn't, it would mean that we don't love our country."

All people in the world should know that the Thai always sign for you with their hand and than later wipe off with their fits so don't the Thai they sign for you just joke only
It is a worthless degree anyway because it is just an honorary degree. If Hun Sen hear that this university wants to revoke his degree, Hun Sen might just rip it into pieces before the university decided to revoke it, just to show that it is not important to him or to show that he doesn't want it.
Yeah. rite!
Now he has 10 PHD degree. he dont need the degree from a country like Thailand. As you said, it is a honor degree, not a real PHD.
In addition, the university in Thailand is not the best Univesity in the world like UCLA, UW, Hovard, Oxford, etc. So, don't be proud of yours anyway.
As my friends who graduate Master degree from Chula LongKon Univesity in Thailand, when she came to the US, she do just as a eltronic assembler until she got Bachelor degree of Nursing.
So who care?
