(BangkokPost.com) - People Power party (PPP) leader Samak Sundaravej vowed to push for an amnesty for the 111 former executives of the dissolved Thai Rak Thai party if he gets the premier post.
Mr Samak, speaking in an interview with CNN, appeared confident that PPP will win election after two exit polls show his party takes the lead.
He also vowed to invite ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra to return to Thailand to fight corruption charges facing him in court.
He also said the polls show that voters believe Mr Thaksin's team can administer the country and push the economy to prosperity again.
He also ruled out possibility that the army may not be satisfied with the PPP's victory, saying that the army understands the political situation and respects the voting results.
When asked if he has formed political alliance, Mr Samak denied, saying he will wait for the official result before making a move.
