Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen predicted Monday that his ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP) would continue to win at least two-thirds majority in the general election slated for July 28.

"In the last election, we won more than two-thirds in the parliament. I do believe that the CPP will be able to maintain the parliamentary seats -- not less than two-thirds in the forthcoming election," Hun Sen, who is also the CPP's vice president, said during a groundbreaking for the construction of the 7th Cambodia- China Friendship Bridge in Southern Kandal province.

The premier said he has led the government to build roads, bridges, irrigation system for the people, and when having any problems, the people always appeal to him for help.

"Now, I'd like to ask back from the people -- one vote from one person," he said. "If you love, pity, like and trust Hun Sen, please vote for the Cambodian People's Party on July 28."

The CPP's congress on March 17 officially endorsed the candidacy of Hun Sen as prime minister of Cambodia for the fifth legislative term of the National Assembly (2013-2018) if the party continues to win in the election.

Hun Sen, 61, has been in power for 28 years and vowed to stay in the office until he is 90.

The country is set to hold a general election on July 28. According to the National Election Committee, about 9.67 million Cambodians are eligible to cast their ballots in the forthcoming polls.

In the last election in July 2008, the CPP won 90 seats out of the 123 parliamentary seats, while the opposition Sam Rainsy Party won 26 seats, the Human Rights Party 3 seats, the Funcinpec Party 2 seats and the Norodom Ranariddh Party 2 seats.
