Historically speaking, Vietnam and Thailand always used a "divide and conquer" strategy of inciting Khmers to fight against Khmers in order to invade Cambodia . Recently, between 1975 and 1975, Pol Pot's brutality and ruthlessness had created the opportunity for Vietnam to set up the Khmer Liberation Force to mask its invasion of Cambodia.

When time is ripe, Thailand will use a political turmoil in Cambodia as a pretext to set up another Khmer
exiled government for invasion. Pol Pot had made Khmers to choose between Khmere Rouge's execution and Vietnam invasion .

Now, Hun Sen is putting Khmers in another dead end which Khmers have to choose between "Cambodia being swallowed by Vietnam" or whether "to lose 4.6 km2 of territory to Thailand" . Cambodia has to choose which degree of losing she has to take . Siam or Thailand will use Khmers to fight Kmers for its actual invasion and that is to say using Khmer Surin living in Thailand to fight Khmer Kandal living in Cambodia .

The question is - how many diehard and able soldiers are willing to die for Hun Sen's power? For those who are the victims of corruption, forced evictions, land grabbing, injustices and joblessness are not happy to be at the front lines  fighting for Hun Sen's power while their families are being starved, jailed, extorted and evicted by Hun Sen and while their farm lands are being grabbed by Vietnam.

Vietnam took more than 4.6 km2 (Koh Tral alone is over 540 sqkm ). I haven't seen any heroes who got up and fight yet, except Sam Rainsy, who was then punished by Hun Sen, the Viet lover. For over one hundred years (1795-1907 ), when 3 of Khmers provinces were under Siam's (Thailand's) control, only about six hundred Siamese families had moved to live in those provinces, plus about three thousand Chinese immigrants .

Does anyone know roughly how many Vietnamese population had immigrated or are immigrating to Cambodia? If the Khmer-Thai war break out, Vietnam is going to send their armed guards to protect their citizens' interests in Cambodia. Then Khmers will be again pushed to the front lines (K-6 Plan?) for Viets' safety. By the time the war is over, all the grandchildren of Khmer soldiers will speak Vietnamese fluently.

All Khmer leaders have always said that they want to lead Cambodia to be independent, to have dignity and integrity, but their policies have always put Cambodia in a dilemma .

When Cambodia was threatened simultaneously by Siam (Thailand) and Dai Viet (Vietnam), Preah Bat (King) Ang Duong, in 1859 and his son, Preah Bat (King) Norodom, in 1860, appealed to a third power (France) to provide Cambodia with protection against being swallowed by Siam (Thailand) and Dai Viet (Vietnam). The treaties were signed for mutual interests .


From 1863 to 1953, France, who was Cambodia's protector, had annexed Khmer land, Kampuchea Krom territory, province after province, to be part of France's Cochinchina. When France left Indochina, instead of returning those provinces to Cambodia, France gave them to Vietnam. France took back 3 Khmer provinces from Thailand and give them back to Cambodia but France sold 3 other Khmer provinces (France exchanged 2 provinces- Chantaburi and Trat with Siem Reap, Battambang and Sirisophorn) to Thailand for about 6 million US dollars.

Today, Cambodia is facing threat from East and West neighbors, so which world superpower do we turn to for protection? China, US or EU or ASEAN? Cambodia, which has no true friend, will have solve the problem alone.

For the number of Vietnamese population in Cambodia, it is estimated to be from 300K to 4M. However, they are mostly found floating in Tonle Sap and the border towns. The lake has about 400K Vietnaemse, could lower due to harsh living condition and they moved on land. Border towns has roughly the same 300K or less. Then there are 100K - 200K military advisors or troops blend in. In total, it is approximately 1M. But only 300K of them are citizens and can vote. The other 500-600K are illegals.

Your figures are believable,how do you know are those number ? Just a guess. We can't dictate our country policies base on guess. We need real time infos, even Hun Sen doesn't know previously because of his open door policy toward Youn. Real Khmers in Cambodia most are not concern on these opposition claimed and lived there. We don't need to be racist or Youn bashing. What we need a sound immigration laws and the will to enforce it. We need government reform NOT necessary replacing CPP leaderships. WE REALLY NEED A GOVERNMENT THAT HAVE THE COURAGES TO ENFORCE THESE LAWS. At the same time we can be friendly and accommodating toward our eastern neighbor. We also need a courage Khmer's government
to raise the issues of border encroachment at local level. We also need to raise the issue of basic rights of our brothers & sisters of Khmer Kampuchea Krom living at Preah Nkor.

U.S had always been one side favoring Siam or Vietnamese. American likes peoples who are ruthless, kiss ass, smart, trickery peoples, lastly let them have their ways with your woman, large base consumers. Cambodian DO NOT have non of these. We are an honest peoples with less education, protecting our cultures, small market, kindness peoples. We Khmer are not ruthless except government.

Don't think, that our soldiers are so stupid. For most of us, we are so proud of our soldiers, because they serve our country and not for Hun Sen.
They are our heroes, sacrifice their life in fighting, protecting all the Khmer people and of course our country sovereignty.

Well said regarding embracing Vietnamese immigrants. Australia, France, especially the US, among others developed countries, serve as good examples for us. Take good care of the families without prejudice, but with love, and they will give back their generations who will call themselves Cambodians, may be in a proud way.

That is so true. If we keep discriminating outsiders, they will always feel they don't be accepted. So they keep thinking they are not Cambodians. If we treat them right, and kind, they will know who is better for them, some distant, imagine people, or real Cambodians helping them. I see similar to for example whoever you are close to the most, you feel more connect to that person. Like two a parent who gave birth and a person who adopted a child. A child growing up will say, I love my birth parent, but I love my adopted parent more because my adopted parent actually took care of me. So, I think we should stop treating youns like Vietnamese, but Cambodians. We need to put border guards to enforce immigration that is the real issue. Unrestricted immigration policy is that we must resolve once and for all.
