Re: The Hun Sen-Chea Sim power struggle
There will be civil war again in Cambodia....
Power and Money will kill thousands of people....
This is the Khmer mentality....the Khmer politicians are not there to do good for the country but they are there to enrich their families and cronies.....
For thousands of years, this is how we Khmers lose a lot of land to the Viet and the Thais because we Khmers like to kill others Khmers because they want to get rid of their political opponents....or to silence their political opponents and rule Cambodia as a dictator.
For the next 100 to 200 years, all Khmer lands will be swallowed up by the Thais or the Viet...
By this time, the Thais and the Viets will treat Khmers like slaves or second class citizens within Khmer lands......
All Khmers should learn from the past and move forward, find solution within other parties peacefully.....for the betterment of all Khmers.

More internal struggle within the ruling CPP are forthcoming. Hun Sen will continue to purge Chea Sim's loyalists. It is a matter of time before Chea Sim and his supporters will fight back. Hun Sen had now created enemies from within so he has nowhere to escape because he has enemies everywhere. He could be assassinated any day, especially by his own party members.

That is democracy Khmer style. If you don't agree with the powerful, they kill you. If you are poor, they used and abused and then kill you. In my 50 years of life as a poor Khmer, I have never seen any Khmer leader try to do anything to improve Khmer life, all they ever did were making sure we are suffering. But if you go to Cambodia, almost every village has a Buddhist temple. Buddhism teaches compassion and loving kindness, relieve suffering to all beings. Power and money is the important thing them. Sometimes I wonder why they don't look back to our own and the world history and realise that the power without people's consent will never last.

This article is mostly old hat and this bookkeeper posing as a political analyst conjures up a grave picture. Reality on the ground is different, but this author believes the reports from people who can't get a leg on the ground to stand on. The Hun Sen-Chea Sim rivalry has long been resolved. Chea Sim is no power to reckon with in Cambodia any more. He is but a figure-head. His underlings just got a little too cocky so they had to be weeded out. No big, grandiose plan behind all this. Hun Sen is the man, and will be the man for the next ten years, no doubt about that.

There is nothing new. Chea Sim should retire because he only getting hurt if he stands in Hun Sen way. Heng Samrin is the real threat but he too doesn't have the power to beat Hun Sen either. Hun Sen kept close eyes with them two. This is called after you eliminated your enemy; now you eliminate your team.

Khmerization has dug up old wounds between these two old foxes. Rivalry between these two and their loyalists will continue, however, at this stage Hun Sen appears to have the upper hand and it seemed that the Chea Sim faction has been dealt a big blow with the latest purges.
Some CPP hardliners would like to pretend that it is business as usual, but the fact is that the CPP are tearing each other apart and will continue to be at each other's throats. The only thing that unites them is power and money. Without the benefits of power and money, like if they are in the opposition instead of in the government, they would have killed each other off already.
Now, Hun Sen has enjoyed his unchallenged supremacy, but the time will come when the persecuted, I mean the Chea Sim clique, will rise up and rebel. No one can rule and live forever and this also applies to Hun Sen.

Wow some Khmer people over here are crazy only think that Khmer will fight among one another. There is no Power struggle along the ruling party jeez. Some people got to get real the CPP isn't a yo yo party like other parties ie: SRP? The CPP is strong and there isn't any Internet conflict like all of you think, this is call reform and believe me or not those sacking isn't a move by Hun Sen but Chea Sim himself, he wants to make some reform in his cabinet and the people surrounding him.
Some CPP hardliners, especially Hun sen's supporters, pretend to say that there is no power struggle. Hun Sen even invented a story that it was Chea Sim who ordered the arrests of his subordinates. Only a fool believe this story when Yim Leang said that it was Chea Sim who gave him the power to investigate. I think he must threaten Chea Sim to force him to the power. People must know that Yim Leang, Chea sim's new chief bodyguard unit, is a Hun Sen supporter because his sister is married to Hun Sen's son. No one has the power to investigate, only the police and when found to have committed crimes, the police ask for an arrest warrant from the court to arrest the suspects. What happened with the arrests of chea Sim's supporters was that Hun sen just order the police to arrest them without arrest warrants.
Let China colonizes Cambodia for future existence.
I wish the news is not true but per my conversation with the close net with Chea Sim; this is a fact. However, Chea Sim knows he is no match and he wants no fight with Hun Sen because he just wants to live peacefully. Hun Sen will not allow him to live in peace either because Chea Sim seem more popular and nice politician. The local called Chea Sim as Lok Ajar because that is what he like to do not hurting other people.
11:01 PM, I agree with you 100%. Chea Sim and his faction know that Hun Sen wanted to get rid of them, one by one, but they rather stay calm and silent because they know they are no match with Hun Sen. Chea Sim is a nice and quiet politician who only wanted to live in peace, unlike Hun Sen who is ruthless and is always thirsty for more power. But one day Hun Sen might die at the hands of Chea Sim's supporters if he did not stop arresting and killing them politically.
