The U.S government, through its aid agency- the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), has provided $50,000 to Save The Children to help relief efforts in flood-ravaged Cambodia.

In a statement dated 11th October, the U.S Embassy said the money will be used to provide temporary shelters, clean water, sanitation and hygienic products such as soap etc to 2215 families in Kampong Cham province who live in the worst affected areas.

China has provided $7.87 million to Cambodia and Singapore has provided about $100,000 to both Cambodia and Thailand which are the worst-hit countries in the region.

Really, $50,000 from the US (OMG). No wonder Hun Sen only favor Chinese over US.

10:39 AM, it is the other way around. It is because Hun Sen had chosen China over the U.S, that's why the U.S had not had a close relations with Cambodia. Cambodia's close relations with China during the Khmer Rouge regime had cost Cambodia 2.5 million lives. Remember, those countries that are close to the U.S received billions of dollars in aid, like Israel, Egypt, Turkey, Thailand, Taiwan and their countries are prosperous.

Poor USA, they own alot of money to China. If they know they are poor, why do they complain about China influence in Cambodia.

$ Billion of aid? yes but in order to protect themself only. They send the money for weapon and anti-terrorism not Humanitarians

1:25 PM, your memory is too short or maybe you haven't been born yet. in the 1970s and 1980s, the U.S gave millions in humanitarian aid to help Khmer refugees along the Thai border and help settled nearly half a million Khmers in America who in turn sent billions back to help their relatives back home. China gave zero, but it gave millions in weapons to the Khmer Rouge to fight the Vietnamese. Also America gave millions in humanitarian aid to Africa, but China gave millions in weapons to them to make wars. America gave most favored nation status to Cambodia, which means all Cambodian products exported to America attract little or no tax. this status helped kick started the Cambodian economy in the 1990s because it attracted foreign investors who were incentivized by low or no tax to export to America. But China gave nothing, but sell plenty of their products in Cambodia and sent the money back to China. China also helped the KR to kill more than 2 million Khmers. Can you see the difference?
Back to America's military aid to the countries I mentioned earlier, it is good for them to defend their countries, did China give that big military aid, such as tanks, plans, submarines for Cambodia to defend our country? No. So, which country is the better backer for Cambodia, China or the U.S?

3.48 PM. I am talking about present time. We face the serious flood now, our poor and our country is waiting for help. The past time is over. No point to raise issue in the past.

6:34 PM, if we think about the assistance to this flood, China has donated more generous than America. I agree that, as the richest country in the world, $50,000 from America is nothing. But America is going through financial crisis, it owed china in the form of bonds to the tune of about $3 trillion dollars. I would just hope that America put more money to help Cambodia's flood victims and just forget about the politics. Thanks for the clarification.

You are a little bit selfish, as you have been explained, US has helped Cambodia so much in the past. The past may be the past, but without the past, one cannot move on. So in saying that, no point is raising issues about the past, is very selfish to both the US and other countries contribution to help us move on from the Pol Pot Regime is also selfish.

US is in a lot of trouble, IMO, US should pull out the AIDS, and let Cambodia deal with its own problem. After all $150 millions has been spent in the Pol Pot trials, and how close are we to finding justice for the 2 millions victims? Cambodia is a selfish countries, that likes to blames other nations but never blaming themself. No more AIDS and let the Hun Sen government walk the talk, so they can stop stealing and wasting the nations AIDS.
