The Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) member of parliament (MP) for Banteay Meanchey province has accused the provincial authority of facilitating a huge number of Vietnamese migrants to obtain the right to vote, at the commune elections is approaching.

Mr. Yont Tharo (pictured), SRP MP for Banteay Meanchey, told local media that commune and district authorities in the Khmer-Thai border province of Banteay Meanchey had facilitated a huge number of Vietnamese migrants to be able to obtain documents to register to vote, especially in the border town of Poipet.

He said the SRP and other observers had found irregularities where those Vietnamese hold Cambodian identity cards that were issued to them by commune and district authorities.

Mr. San Sean Hu, governor of Poipet town, has dismissed the accusation, saying that the people who have the right to vote must meet all criteria and conditions set out by the National Election Committee.

Hell..when there are at least 4 millions Vietnamese living in Cambodia, you can bet that they're all voting for Hun Sen. No wonder Hun Sen easily won the last 3 elections. There were so much cheats during those elections days. Such examples, before the elections, Vietnamese from Vietnam would be brought in by bus loads into Cambodia. These Vietnamese voters carry fake ID with Cambodian names. And guess what, they would only vote for CPP. The opposing voters were sometime not given ballets or just simply denied voting rights all together. Obviously, we know who behind it all. Hanoi government was quietly overseeing Cambodia's internal affairs. Hanoi, wanted to make sure that Hun Sen is still in power and in control of Cambodia. It all comes down to, Hanio government would not allow Cambodia to run its own course. It always feel the need to control to take over the last territory in Indochina. This is why certain things are in Cambodia, politically. Come to think of it, I wonder if Hun Sen even awares that he's Hanoi's prisoners held by political shackles lock to his ankles. If he tried to escape, he would be dead. Anyone one who want to get rid of Hun Sen would be Hanoi government. I bet all of this has to do with debts that's still not being paid off yet. We all remember the Vietnam occupation of Cambodia for a little over 10 years from 1979-1990. Those lengthy staying over cost money. After 10 years of occupation, that would probably add up to billions of dollars. Anyone who is loyal enough to pay back that debts would be the almighty Hun Sen, of course.

This is what happened when you turn to Vietnam for help. Then again, didn't Hanoi created a problem for Cambodia in the first place so Cambodia can turn to Vietnam for help. At the end, Cambodia lost 2 millions lives, the whole country destroyed, and milllions of dollars in debts. This is one of many reason to never trust this historical enemy.

Some of Hun Sen's supporters may say these Vietnamese have become naturalized Khmer citizens and have every right to vote. The fact is that they are illegal migrants who came to Cambodia illegally and were issued IDs by the Cambodian People's Party and the current authority so they could vote and vote for Hun Sen. They are not naturalized Khmer citizens, the are aliens who have been illegally issued with Khmer IDs by the Hun sen government so they can vote for it to stay in power forever. I agree with the first comment that the real Khmers, who have every right to vote, have been denied the right to vote because Hun sen cannot count on them to vote for him. So, he resorted to depend on Vietnamese illegal migrants because he is so sure that they will vote for him because he is pro-Vietnamese. If this trend continues, Cambodia will soon turn into a tiny colony of Vietnam.

Very good analysis above. What is the strategies to win? Lotus Revolution?

Lotus Revolution or Water Lilly Revolution, there is not a damn think any opposition party could to do to topple Saddam Hun Sen from power. Why? Because he has Youn on his side and they're very much dominate the political scenes in Cambodia. When they had to cheat to win, there is very little chance to compete with that. The best think to do for the opposition party is to expose all the nasty cheating ways by Saddam Hun Sen and his Youn voters. This might open up an opportunity for certain international observers to closely monitor Cambodia during an election.
