Vietnam is the saviour and the CPP becomes the opposition's scapegoat

Warrior Blood said...

In summary, there are rooms for improvement. Being critical to the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) seem to be the easiest ways out for the opposition because it is not much they can do because of the lack of resources to gain ground in their popularity contest to the ruling party. Talking down at CPP leadership because they gained power through assistance from Vietnam seem to be the right thing to do in Cambodian politics. Let me clarify some points so that people can clear their thought processes a little bit when folks called PM Hun Sen as "Youn Pupet." I am not denying that he is nor am I defending him.

In all fairness, let's re-examine the Cambodian situation during the KR era which I lived in and I have faced that brutal regime. At that time, the Cambodians have prayed every night hoping someone will come to rescue them whether from the West or the East. We would call anybody "mother" if they are willing to save us from hell. Vietnam and the CPP came to rescue us; we didn't see Americans, France, China, UN or any of these super powers or so-called educated political leaders who claimed to have brought democracy for all Khmers. All we saw was this young skinny black boy (Hun Sen?) and his groups educated by Buddhist monks willing to lose his life to save us. The opposition is dead on the money for accusing CPP as "Youn Pupet", I don't think the CPP should feel shamed for asking Vietnam to invade Cambodia; at that moment whether it was the wrong choice; Cambodians forgave them.

The CPP saved my ass from KR and those of you who was just recently born wouldn't know what it was like if you never faced that brutal regime, wouldn't know what it was like counting each day if you are dead or alive. You wouldnt know what it like watching your friends die in front of you; you wouldn't how it felt watching your own mother executed in front of you.

Was it a mistake to chose this business dealing? yes, what choice do we have at that time? ZERO. There was no other movement that can save us from KR; Cambodia was cut off from the rest of the world. War is a business like any other business; you want my services it will cost you. You dont have money to pay, then you will pay with your land. American stationed their troops around the world, do you think it was free protection? Hell no; ask Japanese, South Korea, and others. If you go to the bank to borrow money to buy a house, the bank will charge you interest for using its money. The same concept applied with Vietnam. How many Vietnam soldiers lost theirs lives invaded Cambodia? This is why Cambodia continues to repay.

Recently, Cambodian government was forced to pay back the debts incurred by Gen LON NOL regime from the 70s. We had to pay the American back on the money Lon Nol borrowed. What make you think Vietnam should loose their men and waste their weapons for free? This is the real world, there is no such thing as free lunch. Do we know how many years CPP contracted with Vietnam to pay those debt? We dont know, unless the government willing to tell the country what we owe them and how many years for us to pay off the debt etc. Was it written in the agreement? Was it a gentleman's agreement? People need to understand why they did what they did. They did it to save Khmer lives whether it costs us arms and legs.

However, It is time for Cambodia to be opened about it and not hiding in the dark. Dont get upset or embarrass when questioned about it. CPP made decision at desperate time. Cambodia understands and you will remain our hero. I agreed with the comment related to Abhisit, at least he knows how to concede and congratulate the winner. I too am proud of his action as the loser and willing to recognize that he had lost. Do we have this type of atmosphere in Cambodia? Hell no. The opposition never congratulate the winner, yet opposition continues its campaign throughout the year never stop. They dont care if it is not time for election or not. Why can't the opposition gracious enough to accept defeat and wait for the next term or pledge to help to rebuild Cambodia?

As educated individual; I urge that you change your language in a professional manner if you want to get your point across the public. Name calling me wont do you an justice or Khmer Krom. You only shown the public that your outburst anger toward me serve nothing rather it shown to the Viet that "Khmer Krom behavior" can easily predicted. Why dont you put your thought into writing with fact behind it and educate the world about the history and facts and mobilize different groups for the good causes. Did you lived in the killing fields? Khmer that live in the killing field understand what it was like. I understand Khmer Krom went through pain and suffering too. I understand that Khmer Krom wanted to regain it rights as owner in Khmer Krom land. You could do many things with your knowledge by organize groups or join existing groups to strategize how you can gain the lost land back. You can offer your knowledge to other Khmer Krom leaders such as Sen. Thach Setha or Son Sobert. They are truely warrior of the Khmer Krom. They have dedicated the rest of their lives for the sake of Khmer Krom. I never wanted to see my brother and sisters suffering. Khmer should never fight each other or insult each other just because we have different views. Have we learned anything from our past history? I hope you get my points and if you dont it is alright but insulting me or name calling wont do anything for all Khmers. By the way, you dont need to know my name. The reason I am here because it is about Khmer and I hide behind the screen name and trying to do my best to push Khmer agenda. I cannot reveal my name or location because I want to remain as long as I can to continue to educate and share my view and I hope that Khmer took a moment to think through what I am trying to convey the message to them.

Warrior Blood called himself an educated individual and he supports a party and an individual (Hun Sen) who suppressed and oppressed his own citizens? All his thoughts are tilted toward totalitarianism and dictatorship, not democracy, by defending the CPP and Hun Sen, one of the worst human rights violators in Asia, if not in the world. If he wanted to be called an educated individual then he must support the democratic camp and condemn the dictatorial regime of Hun Sen and the CPP. Vietnam did not come to save Cambodians, Vietnam was the architect of the killing fields. Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh were the one who created and trained all the Khmer Rouge and Khmer Viet Minh to kill Khmer. Vietnam helped Khmer Rouge to defeat the American-backed Lon Nol regime and helped KR kill Khmers before KR stopped listening to Vietnam, that's why it invaded Cambodia in 1978.

You said the CPP developed the country and improved the economy. To a certain extent, yes, but only around the cities. However, there are thousands of unjust evictions that have taken place because of corruption. Also, if you look around in the countryside, many villagers and farmers are still living below poverty line. Hun Sen and his gang are millionaires, probably billionaires, while some Cambodians have nothing to eat. This is because of corruption.

Hun Sen, Chea Sim, Heng samrin and their clique were not nationalists. They were bandits before and became criminals when they joined the KR. They were military commanders and secretaries (governors) of the zones and killed too many people before they fled to Vietnam in 1977 to escape being killed by Pol Pot, not to form resistance groups to save Cambodians from Pol Pot.

Did the CPP ask the Vietnamese to come in or the Vietnamese had already made up their mind to come in years ago, but had to wait for the right moment and also wanted to come in as saviors and liberators rather than occupiers thus telling the CPP, their puppets to formally invite them?

Great Warrior Blood!. This is the best and the most balanced article I've seen on this blog. I'm sure those who are against your views may not even remember the names of their parents, who gave birth to them.
