Austrlia decided to provide 50 scholarships to Cambodian students to take up their tertiary education in Australian institutions in 2011.
In a statement released to the media on Tuesday, the Australian Embassy said that most of the scholarships provide leadership training at doctorate level or advanced degree in developments and long-term and short-term vocational developments under various Australian projects.
The statement said the scholarship selection criteria provide equal opportunity to candidates of both sexes, people of rural and urban areas as well as people with disabilities. The statement further said that the scholarships will also provides courses and training in agriculture, health, rural developments, legal infrastructure, justice, assistance capability to social gender and governance.
The statement added that today, 16th March, the Australian Ambassador, Dr. Penny Richards (pictured) together with Minister of Health Mr. Marm Bunheng, will preside over the launch of scholarship selection process at the Inter-Continental Hotel in Phnom Penh. The dateline for the application will be closed on 31st May, 2011.
The Australian government has provided many scholarships to Cambodian students and government officials to take up further studies and training in Australia every year since the 1990s.
