The two fighter planes that flew close to the Cambodian border on Thursday were Thai F16s on a regular patrol, and had nothing to do with the Cobra Gold 2011 exercise, air force spokesman Air Marshal Monthon Satchukorn said on Friday.
AM Monthon said there was a misunderstanding, that the planes were taking part in the Cobra Gold 2011 exercise being held in the 2nd and 3rd Army Regions.
In fact, the two F16 fighters which flew to within two or three kilometres of the Cambodian border yesterday belong to the Thai air force.
They were flying a regular air patrol from Wing 1 in Nakhon Ratchasima and not carrying any weapons, AM Monthon said.

thai have every modern arsenal weapons that the United States had. What do Khmer have beside BM-21 and AK-47? The War power come from the airs. If no SAM or triple AAA and some air power support like in Vietname. This war hand down to thailand. This is a suicide mission without completing the mission.
I felt sorry for the Cambodia armys and people I hope other countries supporting Cambodia defending her motherland by providing modern arsenal weapons to fight against the thai superior arsenal weapons.
It going to take more than fancy F-16 to take Cambodia. Thailand is not as great as it flexed its muscle to be. The American made weapons used by Thailand didn't do as much damage to Cambodian troops as Thai military hope. That's already says enough about how great or not so great Thailand fancy American made weapons. Cambodia isn't going to allow arrongance Thailand kick her around. If Thailand assumed it had air superiority over Cambodia, I'm sure there are SAM or AAA machine guns being hidden in the jungle canopy waiting for Thailand's F-16 or whatever other flying birds coming toward Cambodia. Don't expect thing to be as simple as eating a bowl of padthia fried noodle when it come to Thailand trying fight Cambodia.
Cambodia must buy some fighter jets from China, Russia or Sweden. If we have a few fighter jets, the Thais would dare to intimidate us.

Thailand love Flexing their muscles against CAMBODIA! They showing off their toy tanks, cardboard planes?...Don't forget, we(Cambodia), still have some SA-3 and other SAM available...But in the future i love to see cambodia buying more modern SAM from Russia or China..Cambodia do not have fighter jets, but consider buying more SAM! The most high tech one...Teach Thai some lessons!
