Cambodian fishermen are very angry with provincial fishery officials for releasing two Vietnamese fishing trawlers and 8 crews after they were arrested for fishing illegally in Cambodian waters on the night of 21st December off the coast of Kampot.
The Cambodian fishermen have claimed that the two Vietnamese fishing trawlers have rammed and sunk Cambodian fishing boats after they were released. However, Mr. Sor Sarin, chief of Kampot Fishery Department, claimed that the authority have no proof of such incident have taken place when they set off to investigate. He had accused the Cambodian fishermen of fabricating the story because they were angry with the authority for releasing the Vietnamese fishing trawlers.
Mr. Sor Sarin told Kampuchea Thmey that the Vietnamese fishing trawlers and their crews were released in accordance with the laws after they were fined. He said the release was agreed by both the fishery officials and the provincial court.
The Cambodian fishermen, however, accused the authority of taking bribes from the Vietnamese fishermen in exchange for their release.

It is true, but these Khmer officials don't think about our national interests, only about their own interests.
I doubt bribery is at play here. I think the Cambodian authority knows the consequences of prosecuting any Youn(Vietnamese)who has done anything illegal inside Cambodia territory. All of us Khmer need to realize that Youn are first-class citizen in Cambodia, not Khmer. We can all thanks to those sell-out Cambodian government officials who chose to be the dogs of Hanoi. Whatever the case, when it comes down to it, Youn can very much do what they please and expect to get away with it. Again, Cambodian government is Hanoi's dogs, so any Youn dog who try to take a bite of Cambodia can do just that because Cambodian government will not prosecute them.
