South Korea has so far provided 233 military hardware and equipments to Cambodia. And according to the article published in defpro.news website on Monday, Mr. Lee Son Chol, Chairman of Military and Administration Resources of the Korean Ministry of Defence, had on 8th October signed an agreement to donate 3 patrol boats, 100 military vehicles, 24 engineering vehicles and medical equipments to Cambodia.
According to the report, the military donation was part of a promise made to Prime Minister Hun Sen by South Korean President Lee Myung-bak during his official visit to Cambodia in October of last year.
Cambodia has recently made substantial military procurements, seen by analysts as a measures to counter Thai military threats at a time when the two countries are in dispute over the borders. In June, China had donated 257 military vehicles to Cambodia and last months Cambodia had purchased 100 tanks and armoured personnel carriers from an unnamed eastern European countries.
