Moeung Sonn and Chey Mongkol had engaged in a bickering regarding the set up of the Khmer Surin language schools to teach Khmer Surin children to read and write Khmer. Chey Mongkol opposed Mr. Moeung Sonn's efforts to set up the schools in Wat Svay Pagoda, saying that he had already set up the Khmer school in the area. A few Khmer Surin and Khmers overseas intellectuals had also expressed their supports for Mr. Moeung Sonn's efforts.
