SLOVAKIAN investors are looking to invest in the Kingdom’s healthcare, industrial and agricultural sectors, the secretary general of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce Martin Hrivik said yesterday.

Last year saw US$6.005 million worth of bilateral trade between Slovakia and Cambodia, of which Slovakian exports accounted for just $5,000, according to Slovakian data.

Cambodia’s main exports to the country consisted of garments and textiles.

But those modest levels of trade could soon be boosted, following the Slovakia-Cambodia Business Forum, held in Phnom Penh yesterday and presided over by Cambodian Commerce Minister Cham Prasidh.

During the event, Hrivik told reporters that at least 14 Slovakian companies were seeking to cooperate with Cambodian-domiciled businesses.

“It doesn’t matter if the [Cambodian] businesses are more interested in selling or buying [goods] – I think business would be effective for both sides,” he said.

“Some of those in our delegation are interested in the service sectors, and the industrial and agricultural sectors, which have a lot of potential to grow.”

Slovak Economic Minister Juraj Miskov said that both countries needed to strengthen economic cooperation.
