Mr. Tith Sothea (pictured), spokesman for the Press and Quick Reaction Unit, said the government is not concerned about the planned rally by Mr. Sam Rainsy's supporters against Prime Minister Hun Sen in New York, saying it is their rights. However, he dismissed the opposition Sam Rainsy Party's claims that Prime Minister Hun sen had misruled Cambodia.

Mr. Tith Sothea's reaction came after supporters of the opposition Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) in the United States had planned to stage a rally on Friday 24th September, from 11 a.m to 2 p.m, against Prime Minister Hun Sen at the United Nations headquarter in New York about his government's human rights abuses in Cambodia.

According to the SRP official, the rally will condemn the the illegal treaties of 1979, 1982, 1983, 1985 and the 1985 supplemental treaty ratified in 2005 between Cambodia and Vietnam because they said that all these treaties were signed during the Vietnamese occupation of Cambodia from 1979-1989.

Mr. Tith Sothea said the SRP's action in New York is done just to whitewash Mr. Sam Rainsy's guilt who had been yesterday sentenced by the Cambodian court to 10 years imprisonment on charges of document forgery and spreading disinformation.
